All about me - indexing and writing, books, ebooks, articles and webcopy.

As a writer, clarity in communication has always been my goal. In every job I ever had (and I've had many), I always managed to carve out a writing niche for myself. When I was lecturing, I enjoyed writing handbooks and materials far more than teaching. When working in sales and marketing I loved constructing telesales scripts and writing promotional material. A punctuation pedant, I feel compelled to explain any subject in the clearest possible manner.

My first freelance writing breakthrough came when I wrote an article called How To Use Google For Research. The article was snapped up by a national writing magazine, and I followed it with Blogging and Blooks (back when blogs were a little-know resource on the web), published in Freelance Market News.

More articles followed, and I began to find more and more work as a freelance writer. The ability to gather, digest, and then disseminate information in an easy-to-understand way was one I had taken for granted for years.

A friend suggested I train to become an indexer, knowing that sitting down with a book in one hand and a red pen in the other was my idea of heaven. I completed the first part of my training with the Society of Indexers and my new career was born. While pitching the idea for a hairdressing training book to a publishing contact, I was asked to compile the index for an existing title - their usual indexer wasn't available. That was the first of many indexes I have worked on for Cengage, publishers of educational materials.

As well as indexing, I still write articles, for magazines and the web, and I work regularly as a ghostwriter. My clients say they find me easy to work with, reliable, and above all, good at what I do. Maybe that's because I enjoy it so much. I'm recently wrote a regular column for a parenting website - Diary Of A New Mum - and am currently working on a variety of exciting projects.

Take a look at some samples of my work, and read a few testimonials from happy clients.
